It's starting to feel like summer around here finally. We're now in peak pond season. Fish are going to be constantly looking for food and it's a great time to watch them swim around. Koi can be fed up to three times a day during this time of the year. Just be careful not to over feed them. Watch to make sure that they finish all of their food within about 2 minutes. Slow down on the feeding if the water temperature gets too warm(over 90F).

By now water lilies and lotus should be in full bloom. Remember, you need to fertilize them once a month when they're in bloom to keep them going strong. Remove any old plant material, and check to see if the plant is becomming root bound.

While summer is a great time to relax by the pond, it can also be a time when you're battle with algae is in full swing. Make sure that the pond has adequate aeration and filtration, proper plant to fish ratio, and low nutrient levels.
